Creative Learning

Perth Festival’s Creative Learning program creates opportunities for students to work with the best artists and creators from around the world, building skills through meaningful collaborations. We celebrate students as culture producers, as well as consumers, acknowledging and celebrating their creativity alongside the world’s best at Perth Festival. From Curated by Kids at Perth Writers Week to Who Run the World, a development program for young, female-identifying musicians, we place young people at the heart of the Festival.

Education Resources

Education Resources have been carefully curated with a mixture of pre and post-performance activities as well as additional information on the artist and/or company.

Curated by Kids

Ten curators get to nominate the authors or illustrators from the Writers Week program they’d most like to interview and then get to have their say in how their event will run. Curated by Kids will have a stage where kids and adults can catch the action of these literary sessions. Check it out HERE

Imagine hearing music you wrote broadcast at venues during Perth Festival! Instead of the traditional bells that let the audience know it’s time to take their seats, we are heralding the start of Festival performances with fanfares written by students aged 15 – 25. Find out more HERE.

Five Short Blasts Workshop

For the 2019 Perth Festival, Five Short Blasts will be navigating the waters of Fremantle. And we’re inviting primary school students to be part of this incredible work.

Young Creatives

Young Creatives is a unique development program that provides aspiring arts professionals aged 15 – 18 with opportunities to explore a career in the arts. Young Creatives connect with Perth Festival artists, performers and practitioners as they participate in an immersive and individualised program of activities. Find out more HERE

Ground Stories: short documentary project

Perth Festival is working with secondary students to create short documentary films that respond to the provocation ‘the ground beneath our feet’.  Find out more HERE.

Seeds of Change

Central to the success and power of  Boorna Waanginy is the Seeds of Change program, an ambitious school project which will see thousands of Western Australian school children learn about and pledge to protect a species of flora & fauna from their local area.

Who Run the World

Who Run The World empowers young female-identifying musicians aged 14-18 with the essentials for kicking goals in the music industry. An incredible line up of local musicians and performers facilitate this series of masterclasses and discussions across music.
