‘Shattering a glass ceiling has rarely been more engrossing.’

An extraordinary true story of determination and resilience.

Maiden tells the story of Tracy Edwards, who in 1989 at age 24, moved up from cooking on charter boats to skippering the world’s first all-female sailing crew to attempt the Whitbread Round the World Yacht Race. On top of this enormous feat of endurance in sailing from England to Uruguay, Fremantle, Auckland, Florida and then back home, Edwards battled with the patronising attitudes of those who claimed that the voyage was merely a gimmick and doomed to fail. Full of suspense, charisma and heroic courage, Maiden is one of the year’s most essential documentaries.
